National Request for Research Participants

Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago are looking for assistance in recruiting parents and their children to participate in an internet-based survey on the health of children with disability.  The research team at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Disability and Human Development is conducting a series of research studies on obesity among children with disabilities, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. 

Currently, researchers are looking for Children with disabilities aged 12-18 and their parents/caregivers to complete an internet-based survey on the lifestyle and environment of adolescents with disabilities. This survey can be found by visiting the following link: www.healthforyouth.org and entering the access code: IFC1. The survey has been designed to explore lifestyle and environmental factors that may contribute to the overweight/obesity status of children with disability, as well as the potential health consequences associated with such body weight status.

The research team is fielding this survey nationally and would greatly appreciate help in ensuring that families with children with various disabilities in each state are properly represented.
