Currently, researchers are looking for Children with disabilities aged 12-18 and their parents/caregivers to complete an internet-based survey on the lifestyle and environment of adolescents with disabilities. This survey can be found by visiting the following link: www.healthforyouth.org and entering the access code: IFC1. The survey has been designed to explore lifestyle and environmental factors that may contribute to the overweight/obesity status of children with disability, as well as the potential health consequences associated with such body weight status.
For more information, or if you have difficulty accessing the survey, please contact Brienne Davis in the Department of Disability and Human Development at bdavis7@uic.edu or 312-355-4054.
The research team is fielding this survey nationally and would greatly appreciate help in ensuring that families with children with various disabilities in each state are properly represented. If you should agree to lend your assistance as a professional working with parents and children, the researchers are hoping you would be kind enough to include information about the survey into one or more of your routine interactions with families (e.g., listserv, electronic and hard copy newsletters, and training sessions). If you are interested in helping, please contact Brienne Davis in the Department of Disability and Human Development at bdavis7@uic.edu or 312-355-4054 to access materials with customized codes for your particular organization.
