World Sport Chicago Scholarship

September 2, 2010

World Sport Chicago is excited to announce the second year of the World Sport Chicago Scholarship. Up to 56 Chicago high school student-athletes will receive Kaplan ACT tutoring, Chicago Scholars mentoring and the opportunity to receive one of 16 renewable college scholarships worth up to $10,000 annually ($40,000 total), supported by the MacArthur Foundation. Last year the 56 WSC Scholars represented 15 Olympic sports, 27 Chicago high schools and Chicago’s North, West and South sides. This year, we hope to have Paralympic sports represented, but need your help to spread the word!

Eligible students are:

  • High school juniors (Class of 2012).
  • Students who live and attend school in Chicago (public, private or parochial).
  • Academically qualified (2.0 unweighted GPA or higher).
  • Participants in an eligible Olympic or Paralympic sport for two seasons in the last three years. Athletes of all abilities are encouraged to apply.
  • Willing to fulfill the WSC Scholar duties and participate in WSC Scholarship programming and awards.

Applications are available at www.wscscholars.org; all materials (application, transcript, essays, recommendation letters) must be submitted by November 15, 2010!
