NCPAD

NCPAD is an information center concerned with physical activity and disability. The mission of NCPAD is to promote substantial health benefits that can be gained from participating in regular physical activity. The slogan of NCPAD is Exercise is for EVERY body, and every person can gain some health benefit from being more physically active. The website provides information and resources that can enable people with disabilities to become as physically active as they choose to be.


NCPAD encourages persons with disabilities to engage in regular physical activity so as to maintain good health and prevent the development of secondary conditions. NCPAD offers a wide variety of informational and educational resources on disability, physical activity exercise, recreational activities and adapted sports ranging from fact sheets and monographs to video clips, slide shows, and complete exercise programs. NCPAD provides resources at multiple levels to meet the specific needs of persons with disabilites, fitness and exercise professionals, health professionals students and researchers. The website features searchable databases of accessible physical activity programs (including a locator by state or zip code), vendors, of specialized or adapted equipment for recreation, sports and physical activity and a bibliography of literature realting to physical activity and disability. Visitors to the website can post questions or share information through online discussion forums and an online calendar of meetings, conferences, or other events relevant to NCPAD's mission.
